“Reason|Define Redefines ‘Girls Rock’ with Debut Album ‘Far From Strangers.’

Embark on an exhilarating musical odyssey from start to finish with ‘Far From Strangers.’ This album debuted on March 24, 2017, at The Fillmore Underground in Charlotte, NC, showcasing the remarkable talent of an all-female quintet rooted in Charlotte. Redefining the essence of ‘girls rock,’ this band crafts an electrifying sound featuring commanding riffs, resonant bass lines, pulsating drum beats, and fills that reverberate through the soul. Fronted by a vocalist whose angelic tones carry an unmistakable attitude, their music traverses across diverse genres—from Alternative to Rock to Metal.

The opening line of the first track, ‘Kingdom‘—’Shield your weakness when you shoot me down’—serves as a powerful prelude to the album’s overarching theme: empowerment. Each song encapsulates superb lyrical quality while maintaining its individuality. ‘In Your Eyes,’ undeniably one of the album’s most impactful tracks, captivates from the start with its aggressive opening riff. Additionally, ‘Spades‘ and ‘Lock and Key‘ boast equally impressive intros, adding to the album’s allure.

On a contrasting note, ‘Ghost Lights‘ offers a mellower vibe, highlighting the band’s melodic finesse fused with harmonious elements. Furthermore, an unplugged version of this track is also available, providing a different perspective on the song’s essence.

I had the pleasure of witnessing Reason Define live during the summer of 2017 at The Radio Room in Greenville, SC. Instantly, I became an ardent fan. Their live performance mirrors the extraordinary quality of their recorded tracks. I wholeheartedly recommend attending one of their live shows—it’s an unrelenting experience from start to finish. From Paolina Massaro’s impressive vocal range to Shelby McVicker and Sav Ruff’s dynamic guitar riffs and licks, complemented by Caitlin Rutkowski’s astounding bass lines and Syd McVicker’s stellar drumming skills—trust me, attending their live performance is an absolute delight that won’t disappoint.

Far From Strangers is an album that demands attention. Its blend of genres and captivating melodies make it a compelling listen worth exploring.
